Brief History of the Fellowship
The Fellowship of Evangelical Church Pastors in Europe was established to serve as a common platform where pastors engaged in God’s Kingdom work across Europe can share spiritual gifts and ministry experience, and support one another in fulfilling the ministry entrusted to them by the Lord and His Church.
The Beginning of the Vision
The Fellowship originated in January 2010 through an initiative proposed by Pastor Desta Asfaw, who was then serving at Rehoboth Church in Greece. At that time, pastors serving in various European countries met for the first time to discuss their ministries and opportunities for cooperation. This historic gathering brought together pastors from Germany, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and Norway. During the meeting, the idea of establishing a Europe-wide fellowship of pastors was presented and received with strong support from those in attendance. After prayer and deliberation based on biblical principles, the participants formed a committee to prepare the Fellowship’s Constitution and Bylaws, laying the first institutional foundation for a united fellowship of pastors in Europe.
Official Establishment
Following the initial meeting, a second gathering was held in Stuttgart, Germany, in June 2010, where the draft Constitution and Bylaws was unanimously approved. On this basis, the organization was officially established under the name “Fellowship of Evangelical Church Pastors in Europe.” During the same period, additional pastors from Norway and Belgium joined the Fellowship, broadening its membership and strengthening its foundation.
Strengthening Partnership with AEECE
Following its establishment, the Fellowship pursued ongoing dialogue and cooperation with the European Fellowship of Churches. These efforts culminated in 2012, when the relationship developed into a formal institutional partnership. As a result, the Fellowship of Pastors became one of the ministry departments of the European Fellowship of Churches and began serving in close cooperation with it. This marked a new phase in the Fellowship’s development, enabling it to strengthen connections among pastors across Europe, promote the sharing of spiritual gifts and ministry experience, and expand collaborative ministry initiatives.
